How many companies truly forecast their business accurately? We see companies even with sophisticated forecasting and planning tools still do last month + 5%. In these days of complex, global, interrelated issues, how are companies reflecting the impact of their external environment in their business forecasts: fluctuating oil prices, shortage of skilled employees, operational efficiencies, inflation etc. In our opinion, companies rarely undertake true operational models of their business. The failure to do so makes it more difficult to predict the future and does not allow companies to be nimble enough to take advantage of changing markets.
SAP® Role Based Access Control (RBAC) - also called role based security:
It's based upon what do users do -- why are they using the application and what do they need to accomplish within the application? Role-based security is a form of user-level security where the application doesn't focus on the individual user's identity; but rather on a logical role they occupy. This can be implemented many ways. One way is to recognize Groups and Activity Groups that represent the Roles. The application can query these Groups (through the Authority Check process) and make security decisions based on the group’s Authorization Object settings. For example, if access to a particular transaction is restricted to members of the HR Admin Role, a local group called HR_Admin can be created to represent that role. What's most appealing about this simple role-based architecture (to SAP Security Administrators and users alike) is how it simplifies life for both – because a well-understood mechanism to implement security now exists.

I really was awake in college! I learned all about the product lifecycle from my Marketing 101 class. Of most interest to my student loan-laden wallet was when the cycle would begin to benefit the consumer's pocketbook. This is when the product has reached the point of becoming a commodity – widely available with a large selection of sellers and options. The only potential downside is that now the consumer is fully responsible for making the purchasing decision.
Similarly, business intelligence tools were once new products with very few vendors, limited features, and high price tags. However, today there are many different vendors with multiple, similar features causing pressure to differentiate them on price.
For the consumer, this makes today a fantastic time to invest in a business intelligence solution, but also means a significant and often difficult decision lies ahead.
In this article, I compare 3 of the top business intelligence commercial tools and one leading open source tool. I will present a feature comparison of each one to help you with this selection. We expect you will learn from this matrix that while many of these vendors offer similar features, some may be more suited to you than others may. We present this matrix as compiled by Ashvan Technologies.

WEB SEMINAR
Business Intelligence (BI) projects use to involve simple tools mostly provided by Application embedded reports and/or database queries so the choices were easy. However, today BI is a mature practice with a wealth of vendors with tools that have been around for more than 5 years now. Therefore, when you are ready to launch a BI project, the choice of tools to build it around can be daunting when considering the cost of making the wrong choice. In this webinar we will explore some of the top tool vendors' product suites to contrast where one might fit your needs better than another. We will outline some common situations that would cause your decision to go one way or another. More>>
Remember when soda pop came in small glass bottles? As a kid, drinking a 12oz bottle of the precious stuff was a big deal but now you can get it from different brands and in 3-liter quantities. A true commodity now. Just like the soda pop industry, the Business Intelligence industry too has reached a commoditization of products. In this web seminar, we will explore the choices for open source BI tools. We will also see a demo of a robust BI architecture and that is open source and easily deployed and customized. More>>
