Oracle acquires Hyperion; Business Objects acquires Cartesis
What does this mean in the Enterprise Performance Management world? The pursuit of a seamless, integrated, end-to-end solution. The major vendors are seeking to present an integrated solution to their clients. They want to say “come to us and we will enable you undertake all of your budgeting, consolidation, reporting, etc. processes within the same infrastructure.” The easiest way to do this right now is to acquire best-of-breed software companies that can plug the holes in the vendors’ arsenal. In the long-term however, the major vendors will have to rebuild their infrastructure from the ground-up with all the different tools integrated based on a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA). The problem with this approach is that it is fiendishly difficult to accomplish.
Community
Data Management Group has always been committed to community and demonstrated this once again at the DC Area’s Business Objects Crystal Users Group meeting held this last May 14th. The purpose of the quarterly meeting is to provide members a forum to share the benefits of their experiences with Business Objects products. Four members of Data Management Group’s technical delivery team shared their knowledge and experience by responding to questions during the Technical Question and Answer portion of the meeting. If you would like Data Management Group to attend or speak at your user group meeting please contact us.

- Technical infrastructure
- Enterprise portal-based platforms
- EPM innovations like Software as a Services (SaaS)
