Query Studio
How to create a filter prompt in query studio
Short Solution:
Create a filter prompt to dynamically render reports whose values for a given column is the same as the filter.
Long Solution:
Let's say you want to create a report that lists all of your customers who lives in Virginia. You have over 500,000 clients in your database and only a small fraction of them live in Virginia. Instead of manually checking which customer lives in your desired state, you can create a state filter prompt which will render customers that only live in Virginia.
- Go To Query Studio
- Pick a package that contains your desired data source
- Go to Menu and click new page
- Click and drag the desired columns onto new page. Make sure state column is one of the desired column on page
- Single click the (state) column that you want to constrain and click filter button located on the menu bar.
- A filter screen will appear at the bottom of page.
- Click "Show only the following" in Condition option.
- Click "Prompt every time the report runs" to create a filter prompt that will ask you to put in a value in your constrained (state) column. This is a dynamic filter prompt.
- Click Ok to close filter. Notice filter is located at the top portion of your page.
- Click run.
- Select the values that you want to see in your report. In our example, we would choose Virginia as we would like to see all of our customers who live in Virginia. (You may want to choose a different state).
- The report displays clients who only live in Virginia.
