Error: null value (INF)

The information in the article applies to
BusinessObjects XI

Synopsis
After an initial install of BusinessObjects Performance Manager XI, if you open any of the metric analytics and click 'refresh', the following error message appears:

"Prompt Error: null value (INF)"

Why does this error message appear and how do you resolve it?

Solution
This error message appears because the CI_PROBE Universe is installed by default using the 'sa' account with no password. The default MSDE SQL Server installation (as well as most other database installations) requires a password for the sa/administrative account.

To resolve this error, use the following steps:

1. Open the Universe Designer, and import the CI_PROBE universe.

2. Go to 'File' and then click 'Parameters'. At the bottom of the initial screen the connection will be listed (by default it is AFDEMO).

3. Click the 'Edit' button. Enter your current 'sa' password and click 'Next', continue to click 'Next' until you get the option to Finish. Click 'Finish'.

4. Export the now edited CI_PROBE Universe back into your BusinessObjects XI environment.

NOTE: If you have added the CI_PROBE universe as one of your metrics universes it will need to be updated as well.
